Carl Braaten
January 3, 1929 – October 28, 2023.
Center for Catholic and Evangelical Theology co-founder Rev. Dr. Carl Braaten died on October 28, 2023.
The Rev. Dr. Braaten is revered as an American Lutheran theologian and minister who contributed significantly to Lutheran theology and ecumenism. Carl authored numerous notable books and journal articles. Together with Robert Jensen, he helped to form the Center for Catholic and Evangelical Theology and the accompanying journal, Pro Ecclesia. Carl is beloved as a faithful husband, father, and friend and will be dearly missed.
A funeral service was held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, Arizona on November 25, 2023. You can watch a recording of that service here.
